The Truth about Macedonia

Experience has taught us that it is very difficult to communicate with people who have lived under, and have been trained by, the Communist mentality. Case in point: the misleading and well-camouflaged claims made by the honorable foreign minister of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM), Antonio Milososki, to The Washington Times in the article "Name game blame" (Embassy Row, July 11) that his country will promote stronger trade relations with the United States, and, with its transition to an independent nation, should be designated Macedonia, not FYROM.

An Urgent Appeal from the Pancretan Association of America

The Pancretan Association of America stands in immediate support to our compatriots in Greece, the victims of the fires and their families. The picture of Greece in flames, the decimated forests, the burned villages, the unequal battle with the fires, the pain and suffering you can easily see smothered on each and every compatriot’s face, bring upon our indescribable grief. They cause sheer agony for
the tremendous ecological catastrophe and the dire consequences that our motherland and its people we will have to face in the future, together with questions for the people who orchestrated this unspeakable scheme of arsons. The sheer magnitude of this catastrophe is simply unthinkable!

Immediate response to this unprecedented disaster is our national duty. A duty that we have to share and contribute to, in any manner humanly possible according to our abilities and capabilities.

2008: A Great Year Ahead for AHEPA!

Happy New Year! AHEPA has before us, one of the most exciting and important years. Already, Headquarters and our network of chapters is buzzing with plans for this year's Biennial Banquet in Washington and the Supreme Convention in Greece. We're also looking at a year of great opportunity for policy and diplomatic advancements on behalf of Greek American relations.
